On April 1st the top 25 bull riders, personnel and stock contractors of the NFPB once again hit St. Joseph, MO. Terrible’s Casino hosted the opening banquet where everyone enjoyed the time that has become an annual mixer.

April 2nd was the starting rounds of the three day, six round finals. Missouri’s Seth Reynolds took the 1st round when he rode bull #69 of Jerry Copp’s. Kansas man and #1 bull rider Henry Yoder split 2nd and 3rd with an 85.5 effort aboard 5J’s bull #554. Kenny Hickman was 85.5 by riding bull #4 of John McKee’s. Jim Kreke was 4th in the round riding Jerry Copp’s bull #521.

Round 2 went to Arkansas and Missouri when Jimmy Tubbs rode Troy Meech bull #522 and Corey Davis topped Taylor & Sons bull #13. There was a split for 3rd and 4th also with Curtis Seamans and Dusty Green both being 84.5 pts. Seamans rode D bar D Rodeo Co.’s bull #205 and Green topped Cory Check’s bull #656.

Ryan Schumacher of Minnesota won round 3 by riding bull #3105 of the 5G string for 86.5 pts. Second and third was split with 85.5 pts. Craig Sasse rode Meech’s bull #49 and Matt Moore rode Walkowe’s bull #77. Fourth was also split by Jimmy Tubbs and Danny Schlobohm for 84.5 pts. Tubbs rode bull #404 of Cory Check and Schlobohm rode Check’s bull #656.

 

Friday night, Final’s bullfighter Andy Thompson fractured his C6 vertebra. Andy is doing good and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Round 4 went to rookie David Henderson with 86 pts when he rode Shad Smith’s bull #451. Rookie of the Year, John Susie, took 2nd by riding Scott Farace bull #814. Seth Reynolds picked up another check when he placed 3rd with 84.5 pts on bull #-1 of Shad Smith’s. Danny Schlobohm struck again by riding Smith’s #35.

Round 5 went to Erik Hopp. He rode Scott Farace’s bull #V42 for 88 pts. Jimmy Tubbs placed again with 87.5 pts on Farace’s V26. First time Finals qualifier Timothy Vaughan was 3rd 85 pts on 5G bull #425. Kenny Hickman finished 4th with an 83 pts ride on Farace bull #87.

The 6th and finals round saw Corey Davis make an 89 pt effort on top of Shad Smith’s bull #07. Ryan Schumacher returned to a round placing when he rode Jerry Copp’s bull #2231. He also received the B&W Challenge bounty of $1750. Jimmy Tubbs went to the pay window again placing 3rd with 86.5 pts when he matched up with Smith’s bull #25. Fourth went to Craig Sasse. He earned 86 pts by riding Smith’s bull #451.

When the dust settled Henry Yoder held on to his lead and became the 2008 Federation Cup Champion. Jimmy Tubbs captured the 2009 Federation Finals Average Championship by riding 5 out of 6 bulls. Congrats to both of these men!
