Decisions of the judges will be final.
Contest Eligibility
Each contestant must be not less than 18, nor more than 24 years of age as of January 1, 2005 with proof of age, shall never have been married or pregnant, shall waiver liability, and shall never have held a Miss NFPB title before. All contestants must agree to abide by the pageant rules, with the possibility of disqualification for infractions.
Should the circumstances occur that a contestant is conducting herself in an improper manner she will be disqualified from the competition. The committee feels it is the duty and obligation of anyone in a competition of this status to portray the highest of moral standards and show the true ideals of young womanhood and set an example above reproach.
All contestants must buy/sell at least 1/2 page ad in the Finals Program. Sponsorship packages will be given after entry fee is paid.
Judges are selected for their expertise in all the fields of competition. They should all have an awareness of correct western dress, are an experienced western type horseman or woman who is accustomed to judging horse events and work with the public in everyday situations.
The contestants will be judged in seven areas: Horsemanship, speech, modeling, photogenic, extemporaneous question, personal interview and Miss Congeniality. Horsemanship will be judged while the contestants are riding their patterns and on their knowledge of horsemanship during their interview. Personality and appearance will be judged throughout the pageant.
Appearance and Personality
– While this may not be a specific judging event, it will be imperative. The purpose of this is to select the girl who rates highest
in: attractiveness and grooming, to include neatness and cleanliness in every
detail; poise and posture, lady-like behavior in every situation; photogenic
quality; knowledge of proper western attire with particular attention given to
color coordination. This is not a
clothes contest, however, the contestants are expected to wear full western
dress (meaning pants, jeans, skirt, western shirt or blouse and/or jacket, hat,
belt and boots). It is not
necessary to invest an extensive amount in clothing until and unless you are
selected as Miss
NFPB.
Judges will be looking for versatility, imagination, creativity, and
current styles displayed by the contestants.
Personality also plays a big part in the Miss
NFPB
pageant. You will be judged on
maturity, high moral standards, sincerity and integrity.
Rodeo Queens must make public appearances, sign autographs and generally
be able to meet the public well with a sense of humor and be at ease.
Good common sense is essential.
Horsemanship – The purpose of this
division is to select a girl who rates highest in horsemanship, to include
control of the mount and the way any situation may occur is handled. The judges will be looking for balance, position of hands,
feet and seat and running patterns. Contestants
will be asked to demonstrate their pattern and possibly other runs, such as
grant entry, etc. Dress for this
event shall be white, long sleeved shirt and blue jeans.
No colored jeans. Failure to
meet these rules will result in a zero for this event.
Showmanship should be considered since a contestant’s personality does
project from horseback to the audience and judges.
Questions will be asked on knowledge of professional rodeo, explanation
of events and general rodeo terminology. A
horse will be provided for this event.
Modeling – Each contestant will be required to model an outfit of their choice. Vanderbilt’s Western Store in St. Joe will provide all attire for this event. The judges will be looking for originality, style, neatness and color coordination. You will be required to do a runway walk.
Speech – The speech will be given during the modeling competition. It is to be at least 3 minutes in length and on the sport of bullriding. The judges will be looking for knowledge of the subject as well as entertainment.
Photogenic – Each contestant must submit a photo of their choosing for this event. All photos will be returned before the close of the pageant. This photo may be black and white or color and a 5 x 7 photo. Photos must be turned in with the application by February 1, 2005.
Extemporaneous Question – The judges will pick questions that they would like to have answered. Each girl will select a question randomly out of a hat and will be given 2 minutes to answer it. The judges will be looking for quickness, common sense and knowledge and understanding of the question.
Personal Interview – This event is to let the judges meet you and talk with you on a one-on-one basis. They will have 10 minutes to ask you questions. These questions may be about anything. Be prepared, this is an important event.
Miss Congeniality – All the contestants will nominate a girl whom they believe is Miss Congeniality.
Coronation
The winner will be announced at
the Finals Banquet on Sunday, April 3, 2005.
All contestants must be present. If
a contestant fails to attend the coronation she forfeits all titles and awards
that she may have won. All awards
and presentations will be given at this time.
**If at any time during Miss NFPB’s reign these rules are broken, she will forfeit her crown, sash and winnings and the 1st runner up will step into her place.
**Refunds and cancellations –
A full refund will be given to a contestant that needs to withdraw from the
competition if it is before the deadline. If
it is after, the entry fee is non-refundable.
