On April 28th the NFPB came to St. Joseph, MO for the 16th Annual National Finals. As close as the race was for number one it had everyone wondering who would come out on top. Henry Yoder came into the Finals with only a $309.09 over Craig Sasse. Behind both of them by a margin of only about $3,000 was Tyler Harr.

In round one Harr wasted no time getting started on closing the gap. He won the round when he topped Troy Meech’s bull #437 for 85.5 points. Ryan Schumacher was second with an 84 point ride on Meech’s bull #67. Third went to Danny Schlobohm. He was 83 points on Meech’s bull #64. Rounding out the pack was Dustin Hall. He rode Palmer and Mayberry bull #205 for 82.5 points.

Round two saw multi time qualifier Seth Reynolds strike with an 88.5 aboard Cory Check’s bull #10. Danny Schlobohm struck again with an 87 point effort on Walkowe Bucking Bulls bull #642 for second place. Arkansas cowboy Tyler Harr was staying on track when he rode Cory Check’s bull #76 to split third and forth with 2009 Federation Cup Champion, Willy Ropp. Ropp rode Check’s bull #62.

Seventeen year old Mason Lowe got everyone’s attention by topping Lightning C’s bull #691. The effort earned him 89 points and the number one spot in round three. Last year’s Reserve Champion, Jimmy Tubbs, split second and third with Rookie of the Year, Dustin Rains. Tubbs rode Meech bull #437 and Rains topped Lightning C’s bull #714 for 87.5 points. Willy Ropp grabbed fourth with an 87 on Meech’s bull #67.

Harr continued his climb in round four by topping Bucking Bull of the Year #154 Animal from Jackson Bull Co. for 91 points. Adam Proctor placed for the first time when he rode Double S Bull Co. bull #2 for 89.5 points and a second place finish in the round. Missouri’s Brent Menz was third with an 88.5 point ride on Double S bull #47. Fourth place went to Ryan Schumacher. He earned 87.5 points on Double S bull #138.

In round five Mason Lowe rose to the occasion and claimed first with his 84.5 pt effort on Double S bull #008. Lowe split the round with Iowa’s Travis Van Laar, who rode Gold Medal Cattle Co.’s bull #262. Former Federation Cup Champion, Henry Yoder, grabbed third place when he topped Lightning C bull #88. Fourth in the round went to Kody Monroe. He rode Lightning C’s bull #1216.

Round six went to Brent Menz when he rode Scott Burruss bull #412 for 90 points. Second was Danny Schlobohm with 88.5 points on Lightning C’s bull #432. Veteran Craig Sasse placed third on Double S bull #623. He was 87.5 points. Willy Ropp was fourth and clinched the Finals average with his 86 point ride on Lightning C’s bull #97.

Saturday night’s performance saw a new format with NFPB stock contractor bull team competition. NFPB stock contractors were eligible to enter a four bull team and compete for the Finals Bull Team Championship. Scott Burruss won the team competition and Shad Smith was second.

Tyler Harr caught and passed the number one and two men to claim the Federation Cup title. He placed in three rounds and second in the average to claim his first National Championship.

Willy Ropp rode five out of six bulls to win the average and Finals Championship.

Chris Pyle was in top form as always as he showed why he was voted Announcer of the Year.

Mississippi’s Dusty Myers was voted Barrel Man of the Year. He kept everyone entertained with his comic style that he has become so well known for.

Lucas Littles, Jeremy Muntz and Cory Griebel were a perfect combination together showing why they were selected as the Finals Bullfighters.

Ride hard and God Bless. We will see ya down the rode!

Contractors please take note. There have been many event sanctionings that have been coming in late. This makes it very hard to get the newsletter out on time and to ensure that the maximum number of contestants enter your events. They must be turned in two months prior to the event at the latest. This is a must. We do our best to get the information out but we need your help in getting it done.

Upcoming Events

Contractors don’t forget that NFPB members should have first chance at working your events as contract acts personnel.

Non-notified turn outs will not be tolerated

The policy is simple and stated.  When you enter an event, the stock contractor supplies the animal for that entry.  This means he has to haul that animal to the event and feed it at the event.  In many cases, there are other bulls leased for these events and whether the contestant competes on the animal or not, they still have to be paid for.  Your entry also fills a spot that another contestant could have filled.  So please, remember, these contractors and producers sanction these events, so respect and support them.

Important Notice

Remember, when you enter an event, if you have a turn out without a doctor’s release, you are still responsible for your fees.  Non-notified turns outs are your fees plus a fine.

Contractors

Producers

You need to get your sanctioning in two months prior to the event.  Late submissions are holding up the newsletters.  Also, you must send in your sanctioning fees and finals fees or ineligibility will result.

Results of your events are to be submitted in a standardized form.  Result sheets have been provided for this purpose.  Please make an effort to spell and print the name of the contestants correctly. Thank you.

Mandatory policy for contractors and producers, All papers, including judges sheets, drawn sheets, and result sheets, are to be in no later than 7 business days after the event.

Ride hard and God bless. We will see ya down the road!

An inherent part of NFPB's principles is to offer professional quality events. We have a strict set of requirements, which must be met in order to, be an NFPB Sanctioned Event. A sanctioning application must be submitted for review by the NFPB Board to get approved.
